NATCOM has successfully commissioned a new Ex p turbomachinery control panel for the Hydrogen Recycle Gas Compressor at Cairo Oil Refining Company, CORC. The project was delivered in close collaboration with Rotating Machinery Services, RMS, USA, the compressor's original equipment manufacturer and NATCOM's principal in Egypt.

A critical compressor for refinery production

The Hydrogen Recycle Gas Compressor is at the heart of CORC's hydroprocessing unit. It is one of the refinery's most critical rotating assets, supporting the production of approximately 25 to 30% of Egypt's local gasoline 92 consumption. The project brings new control, protection and condition monitoring systems to this machine.

Integrated control, protection and monitoring

The upgraded system brings together CCC Prodigy for anti-surge and performance control, a programmable logic controller for machine sequencing and auxiliary control, and Emerson AMS 6500 ATG for machinery protection and condition monitoring. The AMS 6500 ATG system works with Emerson AMS Machine Works software and replaces the legacy Bently Nevada 3500 system.

Complete field implementation

NATCOM delivered the control panel and the complete field implementation under a lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction contract. The scope included new junction boxes, vibration probes, and full site installation, testing and commissioning.

OEM expertise and local delivery

RMS acquired the AC Compressor business from Baker Hughes, a GE Company, in 2018, carrying forward the engineering expertise and legacy behind this machine. As RMS's representative in Egypt, NATCOM combines that OEM expertise with local engineering, integration and field capabilities to support critical turbomachinery throughout its lifecycle.
