Contamination Testing and Control is a focused course on one of the most important drivers of lubricant and machine failure: contamination. The course explains how particles, water, air, fuel, process chemicals, and other contaminants enter lubricated systems, how they damage equipment, and how they can be measured, controlled, and removed. Participants will learn both the theory of contamination control and the practical steps required to improve lubricant cleanliness in the field. This course is especially useful for organisations aiming to improve reliability, extend oil life, reduce component wear, and move toward world-class lubrication practices. Content provider: Lubrication Experts.
Why contamination is a leading cause of lubricant-related failure Solid particle contamination and abrasive wear ISO cleanliness codes and particle counting Water contamination and its effects on lubricants and machines Free, emulsified, and dissolved water Air contamination, foam, entrained air, and microdieseling Sources of contamination in storage, handling, and operation
Sampling techniques for contamination testing Patch testing and visual contamination assessment Filtration principles and filter ratings Desiccant breathers and contamination exclusion Offline filtration, kidney-loop filtration, coalescing, centrifuging, and vacuum dehydration Setting cleanliness targets Building a contamination control strategy
